It’s not just the people that have cabin fever…
Can not pinpoint it
Something just doesn’t feel right
Feels like time to fly
The strong ones are left
The pretty ones all faded
These are my people
Over the weekend my boyfriend took me to a steakhouse to celebrate my birthday. The place we went was called Bar Harbor. I was not expecting much as it’s up in the North woods of Minnesota, but I was surprised. The atmosphere was great, just like any steakhouse in the Cities.
I started off my experience with a Blueberry Mule that was delicious and dove right into the bread basket. It was filled with the most wonderful warm crusty bread. Next came my Cesar salad. All I have to say is thank goodness for the bread so I could soak up the dressing left on my plate. It was delicious.
Next up was my Entree…a 16oz Ribeye cooked perfectly medium. It was crusty and seasoned well. It had a dollop of garlic butter on top, but it really didn’t need it. It came with hash browns, but after tasting Bryan’s mashed potatoes I would have preferred those.
Next came dessert, we were celebrating my birthday after all. I chose the Toffee Cheesecake. It was creamy and delicious.
Then, Bryan had to roll me home, because I ate way too much food, but it was soooooo good.
The wind bites my nose
Through my boots the ice bites toes
The sun kisses back
A cauldron of germs
Stirred up by my coworkers
My turn is coming.
When your boyfriend lives 3 hours away you get flowers delivered to work on your birthday in your favorite color. We won’t celebrate until this weekend, but I love this surprise until we celebrate in person.
Just a side note on getting flowers at work. Every woman loves this no matter what they tell you. It’s always fun to make the girls at the office a bit jealous. Plus they smell sooooo good. A little dose of nature in the cubicle farm perks everyone up.
Finished up my girl. This is post glaze, but I still need to touch up around the whisker there on the right and get some varnish on it.
I got some paint brush markers for Christmas and tried my hand at a quick drawing of my little Zelda girl. Turned out better that I thought for a quick sketch.
I also started a new painting of my Otto-man. This is really rough yet, I really struggle with brindle coats. I haven’t figured out a technique that I like yet. I overwork them.
It’s coming along! There’s still some work to do, but I love how it’s turning out. I have tried several times in the past 12 years to paint my Tullahbee, but this is the first time that I have been able to do her beautiful self any justice. She’s such a pretty girl and I wanted to be able to capture that.
Gazing into the light
Blooms of promise appearing
From desolate soil
